Marathon Presbyterian Church
A house church network gathering in homes — Scripture, hymns, and life together.
Who we are
Planted in the Heart of the Keys
Marathon Presbyterian Church began gathering in January 2022 as a house church network in Marathon, Florida — midway between Key Largo and Key West.
We meet in homes, not a campus. Our life together is shaped by the pattern of the early church: the apostles’ teaching, fellowship, breaking bread, prayer, and love for one another.
Priorities
What We Hold First
- Scripture The sixty-six books of the Bible as our primary and inerrant standard of doctrine.
- Confession The Westminster Confession of Faith (1647) as our secondary doctrinal standard.
- Discipleship Life-on-life formation and Organic Leadership Training lived in the network itself.
- Independence Elder-led, autonomous, and unaffiliated with a denomination.
House church
Church as a Household of Faith
- Participatory Gatherings make room for shared prayer, song, and open discussion of Scripture — every member of the body contributing, not a stage and an audience.
- Relational Discipleship happens in mentor-apprentice relationships and ordinary life together, following the pattern Jesus used with His disciples.
- Simple Low overhead and high relationship. In a place like the Keys — costly to live, small, and often transitory — the home is a fitting place for the church to thrive.
- Missional We pursue evangelism, teaching, unity, and love — and we carry mission forward by training future house church pastors in the life of the church itself.
Formation
Elders, Training, and Membership
- Elders who pastor All elders at Marathon Presbyterian Church are house church pastors — oversight joined to shepherding in the home, as in the early church.
- Organic Leadership Training OLT is implemented in our house church network. Members are developed and trained to be more effective in ministry, and future house church pastors are formed organically among us.
- BCFK library Members of MPC receive access to the library of the Bible College of the Florida Keys for study and ministry readiness.
